Founded in 1984 under the name Texas Premium Foods Ltd., we grew quickly into four states before merging in October 2008 with Shawnee Quality Snacks immediately taking us to six states. In January 2009, we decided to change our name to Meridian Distribution which would be easier for the “non” Texas states to swallow. Nothing makes an Oklahoma retailer happier than a Texas Premium invoice to be handed to them and the sentiment was the same in Kansas and Louisiana as well so it became obvious a name change was in order! Since salty snack was our history, it was a no brainer that we were going to make this our future as well. The rest, they say, is history!
We are now a premier wholesale direct store distributor (DSD) of snack and specialty foods to all major retail grocery chains in the South Central United States. Our distribution areas include Texas, Louisiana, Arkansas, Oklahoma, Kansas and Missouri as we continue to grow North. Our corporate office is located in Dallas, Texas with our largest warehouses are located in Dallas, Houston, Austin, San Antonio, South Texas Valley, Oklahoma City, Tulsa, Kansas, Missouri and Louisiana with satellite warehouse dotting the countryside.
Our mission is to represent the highest quality, best value products available for our retail partners. To always allow our retailers fair margins so that they may continue to successfully thrive in all economies. To provide constant communication with each customer and supplier we have in order to keep up with the changing needs and proper mix of products necessary to maintain growth. To provide hands down, the best items in each category we provide service for. We seek to be nothing short of the “Preferred Vendor” in every account we provide service to.
We represent more than 150 major brands of chips, dips, beverages, salsa's and more. We fight 7 days a week to be the best there is in the DSD business making sure we take excellent care of our retailers. Our success results from our willingness to work with our partner suppliers to bring consistent pricing and quarterly discount programming that help us develop loyalty from the consumers on our brands in every retail store we service. We also call on every major chain in the grocery business in each state we call on, you would truly be surprised on how many companies do not!
We are currently accepting brands within our current and other non competing categories for our salespersons to bring to market for you. Our goal is to continue to strengthen our company thru critical mass allowing us to hire more people even in today's grueling economy, thus expanding our service area while lowering the route sizes per person which will grow our overall store presence.
